What You Can Do
There is a lot that the person with the wound or, in the case of a child, their parent, can do to help prevent or reduce pain and damage during dressing changes.
One thing that will improve healing and may well also reduce pain is to keep as fit and healthy as you can. Eat a balanced healthy diet, follow your healthcare professional's advice about rest or exercise and take any prescribed medicines as instructed. It will be well worth it.
